So looking at SBC intakes on Ebay I put in the filter "NEW" and this intake comes up and I am like WTF.
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5335822911&icep_item=253776054882
So I contact the guy and say "Sandblasting an old used intake does not make it "NEW" again"

And no pictures of his "NEW" intake without that stupid yellow waterneck the most prone corrosion area on a "USED" intake.
So here was his response. We can overlook the fact that he is at 91% on Ebay with only 19 transactions.

Hey, thanks for your concern but OBVIOUSLY,
....you did not read the description!! This Intake has never been installed or ran!! (AS YOU CAN TELL BY LOOKING INSIDE THE PORTS [CLEAN]) ... Its nice to have something PRE-Sandblasted though because what a wonderful surface for paint to stick to!

...also if you know anything about sandblasting it is not very good to have media inside the intake. BUT, which it CLEARLY states in my description that the ports were masked off correctly!!

Not once in this post did it say this was an OLD intake just sandblasted. NOR, did it say sandblasting makes it new again.

NOT EVERYONE ON HERE IS TRYING TO GET ONE OVER ON SOMEONE!!

I have had my business since 2001, so apparently I know what I am doing, so please dont tell me how to do my job.

Thanks!

If it was stored in a place that caused the the original finish to get corroded to the point sand blasting was needed, OK & add it to the ad. But...I see marks on it that shows it was bolted onto something, look at the bolt holes with the tell-tell sign of tighten bolts on the rear divers side, looks like gasket outlines at the rear underside. The pipe fitting & the coverplate looks like they were rusty (swear I saw rust in the listing.) Then why blast the gasket surfaces on the underside? Who in the hell would pony up $175 +$24.95 shipping for it when you can by really new for $173.95 + free shipping from Jegs or Summit?

E-bay is a crap shoot - There as some great sellers w/ great products and others that couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat. The best I had was driving 1.5 hours for slicks like new that had less than 10 passes on them. Agreed to be there @9:00 am, had to beat on the door to wake him up. The slicks actually had cord showing!! Intakes are one of those parts you can buy used w/o problems (unless they have been butchered) . Had his bussiness since 2001 and only 19 transactions ?? It's been years since I bought anything on e-bay. 565 your probably looking for a non egr anyway but I here what your saying.

I don't need an intake I was actually only looking for a member when that picture of a "new" intake jumped out at me.

eBay is a real crapshoot anymore. I won't buy from private sellers, I've been dicked over too many times. Summit and Jegs sell on eBay and so do some other retailers, but when you are buying from private sellers, it's too easy to manipulate the pictures and the description to make stuff look better than it is. I'm sure there are honest sellers, but I don't want to have to play detective to figure out which ones are and aren't. I just want to buy the part I need.

Also I appreciate you checking out eBay for me for intakes 👍

I don't mean to come off sounding like a dick, but...….I know your intentions are good, but policing fleabay or the internet for idiots that CLEARLY don't know jack sh*t about what's new and what's not isn't your job. It's fine to warn others like you were doing here, but believe me, challenging the "NOS-challenged" people on fleabay doesn't get you very far and only raises your stress level and those people are still going to remain steadfast in being wrong. I mean, how many times has that worked? All it did was raise your ire and they don't care. But you did piss him off because they came back with a stupid retort that you can tell he was agitated for being called out. Also, it makes a difference in how you raise the issue.

I learned a LONG time ago that there are clueless A**holes that live on fleabay. They may know how to run their sandblaster and their business but have no clue how to advertise stuff accurately on fleabay.

1) I don't give a flip if you've been running your business since 1801...when you're wrong, you're still wrong since whatever date you started being wrong..
2) You can see washer compression marks and what appears to be thread nicks in the holes, as well as water port corrosion and intake gasket lines which indicates where the manifold to me, IMHO, is obviously used. Also, how many times do you put plugs in the manifold and not remove them if the idea was to protect the threads from the blaster if they weren't in there before? Thus, whenever he entered the ad in its current form, that was the start of him being wrong.
3) When you bolt other crap to the manifold like that, it's clearly now "used" or at the very minimum "New-other". Disclaimers saying they bolted stuff to the intake and or had corrosion on it and they bead blasted it is ok, just as long as they're not trying to pass off this clearly-used part as new. But who would turn down a yellow water neck? If he says that's new, he's obviously wrong...again.

Best option IMO, simply click on by this one and choose another manifold. Save your pennies for an actual NEW manifold and save your patience for a fight worth fighting.

As I already stated I was looking for a "new" intake for a member not for me and I really did not expect a response from the seller I was just stating the obvious but I thought it was funny that he did respond with such conviction.
