I mostly drag race my Malibu right now, it launches pretty well but twists up pretty good. I am using Moroso Trick springs all around, but I had thought of trying a stock rear sway bar on it as well.

Any thoughts or input on this? Anyone have any experience with this helping?

Should I just get an anti roll bar and not waste my time with the stock rear sway bar?

Thanks

you have all the frame braces? They can help stiffen the frame up enough maybe to keep it from twisting, you also might try adjustable and or boxed lower trailing arms too..Good luck with it Several sites have great deals on the proper frame braces or a good idea of where and how to stiffen a stock gbody frame.

A lot of the drag racers are using a anti roll bar that bolts to the diff and then to the body. Hellwig makes a inexpensive one.

Factory rear sway bars will help you some but they aren't too large. If you already have one it wouldn't hurt to try it and see if it is enough. If not, buying an aftermarket roll bar would only be a little more expense for a fairly dramatic increase in handling over the stock bar. There are other rear suspension modifications you could do to increase traction and launch straighter but a rear roll bar is one of the best options as far as ease of install and bang for your buck. I would recommend getting one of the frame mount ones if you don't mind a somewhat more extensive install.

My current setup is, adjustable uppers with urethane bushings on the diff and rod ends at the frame, stock lowers with urethane bushings. I have a chromoly 8 point roll bar that has stiffened the body and frame up but the suspension still twists a lot. Moroso trick springs and Summit adjustable shocks.

The car hooks well, but I'm also looking to improve my 60 foot times.
My 60's are 1.74-1.78 range but I'm looking for more.

the problem with stock lower control arms is they twist and flex, one of the purposes of the stock sway bar is to stiffen them up. I'd either box them like suggested or buy aftermarket lowers with a rod on the rear axle end.

If you really plan on racing it alot go with the Anti roll bar. especially if you go plan on going faster.

I launch and go straight with no twist every time.

This is a pic of an 81 Bu that has moroso tricks front and rear and has a rear swaybar. As you can see it also twists. You don't really want a swaybar you need an anti-roll bar. Spohn makes an anti-roll bar just for drag racing. But they are pricey.

Hope this helps.
