Ive been thinking for awhile to upgrade the wires and plugs on my car. When i first did my full tune up on the car i just ordered the Ac Delco Brand. It was like 8$ for 8 plugs and 26$ for 8 wires. At First i didnt like the wires at all, they were all too long ! Even The ones that are supposed to be close to the distributor were still big! Also looking at the plugs they were a replacement for the plugs in the heads when i took them out, they were the same plug. So as im going to be getting a new job with better pay i would like to upgrade some of the parts to performance parts. I Was looking at Summit Racings website and Came across different plugs. Ive always heard and seen on Tv about e3 Spark plugs. Has anyone tried them? For 6$ a plug it doesnt seem bad and i would definitely jump on it if it will increase my MPG and performance. As for the wires i wanted to go to MSD. But with so many wires on there im not sure which package is the best? One is for 38$ others for 70-90$. Hope someone can shed some light on this. These upgrades will be for a Chevy 305

I know everyone has their own opinion or brand loyalty but for plugs I always use NGK v-power for me it's a quality plug that works well with my MSD and they are affordable $2.39 approx. per plug and also I like the options for heat ranges per style.
For wires most top name brands have at least one style that is a high end wire I currently have MSD wires on but I have ran Taylors and Accel 300+ and they all worked well.
One thing you should do is buy a quality wire crimper then you can buy the universal sets and cut them to the length that fits your application, I never use premade wires they never fit the way I want
And if you run headers invest in spark plug boot heat shields regardless of what brand you use.

At a stock or just above stock performance level I don't really think plugs or wires, or msd boxes or blaster coils, etc are gonna do anything for ya that quality stock wires and plugs wont. Just my opinion.

No matter what wires you prefer, you should always test them with an ohm meter and see what the resistance is. We once sat in the aisle of a speed shop testing sets and couldn't believe how BAD some major brands were. We settled on MSD spiral core since they had the lowest resistance of all.

The NGK plugs are the best in my books. I had the MSD super conductor wires, #1 plug wire cracked twice. I bought the Accel Race wires, 25 ohm per foot but still has RFI suppresion. Unfortunately Accel stopped making them, a really nice wire. Unforturnately I am having a high rpm miss, just started, need to go through it all.

I use NGK Iridium plugs and Autolite 8.5 wires, but I also used an ohmmeter on the 4 sets we had in stock until I had the perfect set. I have used the autolites, champs, ac, and bosch platinums when they first came out in 87. I'm hard on my 455 and the ngk in there now have been there for 5 years...still clean, and gapped.

Ok So im guessing that no one likes the 3 Plugs? Ok if i go with NGK is there a preferred model that is best? Also for the wires im guessing it all depends on the ohms then right?

Everybody has good input but I am with Chris O for the OPs question. If that lil 305 was screaming 7,000 rpms at the dragstrip regularly yes wires plugs etc all would help. If you spend most of your time say at & below 4,000 rpms not sure that high quality wires etc are going to buy you anything but peace of mind.

Do not buy those E3 spark plugs. That's what I told my brother a few months ago, but he bought them anyway. Then, a few months later, he started getting a cylinder 4 misfire in his truck. I spent some time looking into it, and guess what? He had a bad spark plug. Kind of crappy for $6 spark plugs. And the fancy chrome plating, that yes, extends all the way to the electrode.......all burned off.

Haha ok good to know. Always see them on TV and the hosts like praise the product, guess they have to because there a sponsor... I just want to upgrade those parts of the motor for now. The MSD Wires would have to be better in performance and efficenicy vs the Crappy Delphi wires i have now right?
