MONTE CARLO Door Panel Insulation

I wasnt the first one to take the panels off my doors when I bought my car so I cant say for sure, but when I took my panels off for the first time there was a "water barrier". It was just a paper material cutout that looks like it was put on with a glue stick. It fell apart immediately when I touched it and since then I havent had anything else in there. I know the CL sub-trim (or was it a package?) of the LS Monte Carlos of the time had additional insulation for sound deadening among other things but I am unsure if it was in the doors or just near the dash and floor.

With all that being said, I dont see why adding this to your vehicle if you were looking to do that wouldnt be pretty simple.

Thanks for the info. My doors only had the water barrier. Makes sense that maybe the LS came with it. Thanks again for the reply.

I had the doors on my '88 apart the other day and they had an insulation mat (in rough shape) and the moisture barrier (in even worse shape). I'm planning on using a dynamat style material to replace the existing pieces in the future, for the time being I put the old stock stuff back in place as best I could.

Your car is an "SS"? Thanks.
