Ive been looking on gbody parts for new door seals, i found the lower ones but not sure who has the upper ones. Its an 86 cutlass supreme. Anyone bought new door seals for there car?

Looks like they have it. Hard to tell if its the one on the bottom of the door or the door opening but i need both really so i guess ordering it wouldnt hurt. Seal is turning to dust

Metro, Softseal, etc. all have aftermarket weather seals for these. You should still be able to get original GM seals as well. Last I checked anyway.

I bought the Metro seals for my '87 and after installing them I'm looking to go with original GM seals now. They don't hold up as nice. 🙁

There is a new tool that we had a MFG make that will be far superior to the old technology. Everyone is either using the wrong measurements or the tool is old. One thing we ALL need to keep in mind is the seal WILL NOT seal if the door pins and bushings are shot!!

The issue I ran into is that the aftermarket stuff doesn't have the hard plastic inserts with the seal molded around it at the screw locations. The fit itself was fine.

You can't screw them down very tight and without the extra support, they tend to tear easily.

This was all on a door with brand new hinges and properly aligned. Was just using the cheap stuff while doing the body work and it didn't even last through that short amount of time.

I don't know about availability by you guys, but I can only get p/s seals from GM...and they are around $275 each. I bought Soffseal @ Carisle but haven't installed them yet. I have heard bad things about all but original GM seals.

And this is the reason why I am doing what we are doing for the aftermarket. The oem source will only be around for a certain amount of time and at an unaffordable price. May as well get it right, make a good part that gives the aftermarket a better reputation. We can learn about what they did right and use the technology to make a damn good product.
