Since the g-body doors and trunk lid seem to be the 1st metal to go I’ve been searching high and low for some. I found some new ones for my ‘86 Monte on original parts group for $1k for the pair. Seems high, but brand new doors seem to be the way I’m heading. Everything else seems to be rotted out on every post I look at. What is the group’s thoughts? I basically just need the lowers on the doors inside and outer shell. But can’t seem to find anything but the whole door on the above mentioned site.

You can buy the inner and outer door bottoms brand new Gbodyparts is one source.
These are the ones I bought for my Regal but I ended up finding doors, the inners are made by Goodmark and the outers made by Sherman.

Clean ones pop up from time to time but depending on your location, can be a hard find. Where are you located? If in the rust belt might just be "easier" to get new ones and be done, if in the south or out west, I'd keep looking for clean used ones. When I bought my wagon from CA the guy was cool/nice enough to gather up 5 Monte doors from local yards and include them before it was shipped. I paid him what they cost plus a little on top, the prices out there were dirt cheap since all doors are clean so it was just like buying a fender here or something, not a big deal apparently.

I'd think repairing is the better option than replacing.

1) I don't believe most companies claims about new metal being same strength as the original. I think the old metal was higher quality.

2) anti-corrosion techniques and coatings have improved, but, can be applied internally during a repair too.

3) Maybe, MAYBE they are telling the truth about gauge/thickness being the same, but that doesn't mean tensile strength/hardness is the same. To me, this is the explanation why so many replacement panels claim all of the above but are bend/ding city once on a car.

I’m in WV. Smack dab in the rust belt.

I have a clean and rust free passenger door for 81-87 cutlass for $175. Located in Greenville SC.
