Thanks for the tip dogshit I actually already have the hood made I cut the big *ss hole drilled some holes put some sealant down around the edges and put a mesh grille on the back haven't rain tested it yet but hoping I covered all the basics of weather proofing it lol
Adam6640 I'm most likely going to be installig the electric locks with a remote trigger but if I decide not to I'll let ya know

Have any pics? So you just use it as a heat vent?

Everything looks as if it's going good but I do have a lil advice for ya. DON'T use those small valve heads since your rebuilding anyway, find yourself some vortecs. Also, check your transmission to make sure it has the dual bolt pattern on it, if it doesn't, it will only fit Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac engines. Let us see some pics of the hood before you paint it. Good luck on the rest of the build. I'm looking forward to seeing some more progress. I need to get the ball rolling on my build as well, but I don't have a shop/garage, so I have to wait on some warmth and some money.

thanks for the advice about the heads i didnt plan on using them anyways
ive actually been considering these summit heads
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-152123/
for $309 a piece i think its a pretty good deal i dont have the funds to be spending $1200 just for heads
plus i think they will go well with the rest of the plans for the engine

i will check out the TH-350 tomorrow to see if it is dual pattern
does anyone know of a sure fire way to find out if its dual pattern or not?

Those heads look ok but your CR will be down. I have $600-$650 in my vortecs. I paid $200 for the heads and then like $400-$450 in having all the necessary work needed for a cam with lift over .450. Mine have been milled down from 64cc to 61cc, and screw in studs. With my flat-tops and the heads the way they are now, I'll have almost 9.8:1 compression. The vortecs have a better chamber design as well(LT-1). They are also 170cc intake runners. You will have to have a dedicated intake for the vortecs but they will be better bang for your buck, especially with iron heads. It is your money/motor though, it's JMO.
And about the dual bolt pattern, just look where it's bolted to the motor to see if there is a few more bolt holes(sbc pattern). You will know if it is when you look.

funny that you mentioned the 72cc chambers i was actually just looking at that and thought wow there goes the compression i was looking to get
so looks like ill be finding a set of vortecs because i dont want my compression to be that low
buying a new intake will be fun but not as bad as having to deal with the compression id be getting
thanks again for the tip
ill cross my fingers tomorrow when i take a look at the th-350
if it isnt dual pattern maybe i can find someone that will trade a th-350 for a powerglide lol

If they won't trade, they might buy it. Alot of racers buy the glides and build them for their track cars. If you weren't so far away, I actually hace a couple of turbo 350's, one even has a shift kit in it.
On the vortecs, get the ones off of a 96-2000 half ton silverado, sierra, tahoe with the 5.7. Do Not get the ones from the 305, there not as good, and if at all possible get the 062 castings.Good luck, hope you hot the dual pattern transmission.

Hey guys haven't updated in a while so here it is.
So a couple weeks ago I took my parts (header and fenders) over to the body shop for paint.
Well today I took the car over to have them put on and clear coated.
Also got the frame fixed and straightened out.
Well Now I needed to figure out what I'm doing about a bumper
The Problem:
The original bumper got twisted in the wreck so it can't be used anymore.
The bumper from the parts car had horrible chrome on it.

The Solution:
Take original bumper chrome skin and put it on the parts car bumper frame.

Well so far that plan is going great got both separated from their frames got the parts car bumper frame primered and going to finish it in gloss black tomorrow.

Well here's a couple pics for ya guys nothing special but you can see how it's going

Well ive still got a little more tweaking to do on the hood im trying to figure out what i want to do as far as center trim goes not sure if i should just chop off the back half and put it on or if i should maybe fiberglass a pointed ridge down the center to match the scoop

So whenever im done tweaking the hood it'll get sent to the body shop for paint but until then just both fenders and the header are getting painted
