I used 26×10.5-15, basically same height and similar width on 76 SS3 15" rims. I assume those 14x7 also have 0 backspace. They just touched the frame with 8 psi at the track, otherwise fine. Considering these are an around town tire, radial tires on the front is fine. I have on my 70S currently and did on my old 77 van. Just have another set of tires/rims, if you hit the open road.
I did read 6-8 wheel width, my stock wheels i believe are 7 .the more i read about this i am inclined to set up some tires and wheels just for the track and keep what i have om it now for the street .i do have a set of 15x 8 chrome wheels to work with for the rear.

If you are going 14" for street tires, either 225/70R14 or 245/60R14 are the best choices. I have used both on the back of my 88, both looked good. Of course the 15", especially being 8" wide allows a nice wide tire, back spacing is key. You have a 455, what trans and rear?
