Hey all, need some help. I have a drive shaft that I picked up with an 8.5 rear. I am curious to the step down of the tube near the u joints. I have not seen this ever and am curious if this is truly from a 2004r/8.5 setup. I was told it came from a 442. Removing the universal joint I have a question as well, there is no retaining rings at the differential end, does this mean A press in/out situation.

Take a look at the picture and see the question about the step down I refer to.

the front u-joint with outside snap ring is a 1410 u-joint which GM never used these G bodies. What's the w to w measurement of it?

The shaft weld to weld is 48"

stock is 49 if I remember correctly so as long as the shaft fits the transmission it should be good
