I spent the last hr looking for details on the s-10 wheel cylinder upgrade to not find anything. Can someone send me a link with the details.

I believe s-10 wheel cylinders manual type and 2 sets of shoes in which you will take both long shoes and toss the smaller ones. Correct?

Sounds like you got it. Napa part number for the wheel cylinders is 37644. Just look them up for an 82 S10, they should be a 7/8 bore.

The wheel cylinders are larger? And i take it the pads cover more area .do you have to upgrade the drum to , anyone know the rear disk conversion i heard that used s10 parts to but you need a bracket ,someone that has the brackets needs to measure it and make a zip file that we all can copy and cut our own brackets from the ones ive eseen its just flat stock steel .

Simple as that. Direct replacement, comes with a new clip which will be a pain in the *ss to install.

S10 shoes and gbody shoes are the same. They all use a standard gm 9.5" drum. Yes you use 2 of the rear shoes which are a 1/2 longer. Just doing the wheel cylinders alone is a huge difference in holding power. Notice I say holding power. Factory gbody wheel cylinders are way more than capable of locking the brakes up @ most any speeds. This was is intended for holding power for launching the car. Turbo guys started doing it so they could build more boost on the line and still hold the car. That's why they use the 2 long shoes for more friction area. The front and rear shoe ( read short and long) are of the same dimensions. But there is about 1/2-3/4" extra friction material facing on the long shoe. The reason Brian weaver (gbodyparts.com) is so expensive is because it comes with braided stainless brake hoses, 2 front and 1 rear. The hoses don't expand and flex like standard rubber so it keyd you get more pressure to the wheels holding the car even better, plus they look cool, and to top it off they are dry rotted 20 some year old lines. The key thing to remember her is this mod isn't about stopping power. It's about holding power. Sure you get more stopping.power but do you need to lock the brakes up more than you can now?.
I'll get pics in the morning for reference of the long vs short shoe for you guys as I have a bunch sitting in the corner of my shop.
One thing to note is the wheel cylinders can be a little more difficult to bleed because the bleeder is up in the axle flange and not out like a standard g body bleeder. Easy enough, I bleed mine with the car in the air and the wheel off. Access over top the axle through the wheel well. ( please keep the drum on lol)

I'm going to disagree with you on some points here. I agree almost 100% on the holding power. On the stopping it also helps with a lot quicker & shorter stopping distances. Trust me I tried it when not wearing my seat belt in a GN.

When the brake lines are not expanding it gives you a quicker response to your stopping. It doesn't add more pressure. Pressure is derived from the Brake system itself. What it is doing is making the caliper or wheel cylinder react quicker.
On the longer brakes more area quicker stopping as well.
The only advantage to the S-10 wheel cylinders though is the holding power. It wasn't that all of a sudden you have so much holding power the *ss end swings around on you. I read this & that isn't true. You have more pad now stopping the drum from rotating easier.

If you read Glen's Feed back review on our site his stopping distances were increases by a lot. We had taken a stock car & it is now mid 11 second capable. When he was in the mid 12's he was using the second turn around at the track & unable to stop at the first.

Now on the stainless steel lines they do not increase holding power. When a rubber line expands to it's max it will have the same Pressure (holding power) as the rubber units. It is now getting that pressure there quicker.

I think Glen's Real problem on his turbo Buick is that the power master was not delivering the full 600PSI that it was capable of. After changing the power master & working on it he decided to get better holding & Pressure with more & a softer shoe areas.

well thanks for correcting me there Brian. I was simply stating my understanding from what i have read and thought to have learned lol. I see now some is not true and its good to have the complete understanding. All in all i believe it to be a worthwhile upgrade. The only thing i have left to do is the stainless lines which will come in the future as all my rubber lines are new at the moment.
