im getting ready to put 2 1/2 in. dual exhaust on my 78 lemans. do i need to modify the crossmember on the drivers side?

It depends on what's up front. Long tube headers means for sure you'll have to modify the crossmember. Stock exhaust manifolds or shorty headers means that you find a great exhaust shop or modify the crossmember.

I'm running true duals on my Monte SS without a modified crossmember. The pipes both come over to the passenger side and then spread back out just past the crossmember. The guy that did it really did an incredible job.

Oh, I don't need cats where I am. If you do need them then you'll likely have to modify the crossmember no matter what.

I've never seen a cat like that. I'd be very big though if they made them like that. Used to laugh at the cabbies that would take the 4 cat set up in there crown vic and omit the top one on each side and put a cheap cat usually a small (smaller=cheaper) 1 in place of the lower one. Then wonder why it would not pass emissions.

My set up, 2.25", Magnaflows. *not my welds*
