hey, i have a really nice dual snorkel air cleaner off a hurst olds, i had it on my car for a while over the summer and took it off for the winter. i'm not sure if i'd like to keep it or sell and am unsure of the value of it. the chrome lid is in excellent condition (still has the black paint in the crease), the paints in decent shape and it has the vacuum lines and sticker on it. its definetly not a show piece but really nice for a driver type car. any thoughts on value? i know its hard to tell with out seeing it. thank you

The condition plays a big part, but at the end of the day, it's only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

I sold the dual-snorkle air cleaner off my 442 that was in great shape a couple years ago for $90.

honestly, i paid $30 for it, ive seen ones in similar condition go for upwards of $200. i think i'll hold on to it, i love having a bunch of parts horded in my basement anyways. the parts i have laying around are probably worth more than all my cars combined...

I've really only seen them go for between $100-150, but only complete with all the original ductwork

NOS value has long increased in value over the last years, but from about 6 years ago NOS dual snorkel's whent for $150-$250. I have two in decent condition but with no chrome lid, selling both each for $120.

If you could find the right buyer i'd say you can get $100-$150 for it.

Sorry but I'm calling a huge BS on this one...
I've only ONE 84-87 W40/W42 Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner ever offered for sale in the past 10 years and it had the wrong bar code sticker on it and was offered at $900 and never sold. This was 4 years ago and never has another remotely surfaced on eBay, Olds Forums, Journey With Olds, Thunder and Lightning, Hemmings or the Hurst Olds and OCA swap meets that Ive gone to and I've dilagently watched the marketplace over the last 10+ years.
They are SUPER RARE in NOS like most NOS parts for 81-88 Cutlass/Hurst/442... these air cleaners were $600 from GM when you could still get them back in 1996 and have since been long discontinued.

Re: dual snorkel air cleaner valuea

About 5 years ago on eBay I sold a dual-snorkel off a 42,000 mile 85 442 for $175. On a scale from 1-10, it was about a 9.9. the only thing holding it from being a 10 was it wasn't NOS . . . I thought I was going to get more for it.

The only NOS one's I've seen since 1995 had asking prices of about $500 and up. Don't know if they sold, though.

I've seen many, many used dual snorkels for sale on the internet over the years. Most used go from $50-$150, depending on condition and what channel you sell through.

thank you all for the info and experiences, i'll think i'll just hold onto it. i think i'll clean it up nice when we swap the 350 in it unless my brother really wants an open element air cleaner on it i kinda like the stockish look it gives, and it does have a K&N filter (with the sticker on the back window it adds ~20 rear wheel horses  )

i bet GM wish they had all there NOS parts still, they could make a bundle nowadays selling to restorers who want original GM stuff.
