I will be getting flowmaster 40 series exhaust installed on my cutlass. I need to decide which is better for overall torque, horsepower, and sound. Duals or Single?..no headers btw. just the stock exhaust manifold.

i think if your using regular manifolds its really not going to matter because the mufflers at that point would never end up being the bottleneck of the system

If your going to get headers in the " near future"......You should wait to customize your exhaust until then......without a doubt run true dual exhaust.........

Okay I thought the same about waiting... Is there a certain brand of headers for recommendation and is there a certain fitment for 79 cutlass? Im pretty much new when it comes to performance parts as you can see.

We need to know more about your setup...Does it have the original Olds motor or do you have a small block chevy in there????? But I would suggest you check out hooker or hedmen headers if you have the stock Olds motor...If you have the sbc, then go with the flowtech afterburners, just my opinion...........What all is done to your motor??? Headers and dual exhaust will make a stock motor perform better, not a whole bunch, but will surely make it sound kickass 8)

I agree here. I spent $800 on duals to the manifolds about a year ago I think. Now I got a new engine with headers and I gotta scrap the whole system for a new one.

If you're just running a 260. I would just get your muffler replaced with something that sounds better. Sve your exhaust money for when you have a better engine.
