E85 advantages?

307 Regal There is no economy - cheaper price is offset buy burning more. For performance it works, if you tune to the stoichiometric value. But you burn much more. An example is I run alcohol (methanol) gas air/fuel ratio is about 14 to 1 and Alcohol is 6 to 1 so I am burning better than twice as much fuel but benefiting from the extra BTU'S - in my regal is about 30 HP. Racing fuel is $8.00/ gal plus, Alcohol is 2.75/gal - although I burn twice as much it's still cheaper than racing fuel and I get the HP gain.

What compression ratio are you running?

With an unboosted 9:1 street motor, I can't see much of a HP increase, no matter how much more ethanol you are burning... and it would be a lot more.

10:1, 11:1 Iron head motor.. the higher, the more E85 makes sense, but if a motor runs and accelerates on 87-93 octane, I don't see a path where its going to make any more than a couple more HP on even double the amount of E85.

Not E85, I'm running methanol (alcohol) Car went from 11.55 to 11.23 in the 1/4 which is actually 35 HP
