im about to put the edelbrock cam and lifters on my engine this is my first time putting a cam so imma need help do i got it set the rpm on a certain range? do i really gotta change my timing belt ? is a 350 sbc

Pardon my language but what the hell are you talking about? :? This is the exact reason why you need to post a question in a way where people can understand what you're trying to say.

You don't have a timing belt. An SBC block unless modded has a chain and since you are in the timing cover area already it would be best to change the chain. They are cheap anyways. Second your timing will be set according to your cam like always. Just install, adjust valves appropriately, and set timing like normal

Make sure your valves are done up right. There is a proper sequence to set and adjust your valves and its critical to get it right. Also note that on your chain (if aftermarket) has more than one timin mark. There should be a legend but dot to dot is stock timing. Square to dot is retarded 2deg and triangle to dot is 2deg advanced for base timing. Then reinstall all the intake and dist. Break out your timing light and start running the vehicle. Gt timing set (roughly 10deg) and then follow edelbrocks camshaft break in procedure. You might need an additive too

I'm not sure you're quite ready for this upgrade yet. You may need to do some more research.

I think you're talking about breaking in the new cam and lifters. Yes you should install the new parts and put the engine back together. Once it's back together you'll want to start up the car, check for leaks and run the engine about 2000 rpm's for 20 minutes. You can play with the throttle but you want it to stay around 2000rpm for at least 20 minutes.
