For Chevy 305s there are 3 types of EGR gaskets, black, silver, and tan. All 3 are steel core. Anyone know if either type is better than the others? Chevy 305s require two gaskets as their EGR valves use mounting spacers to clear the carb.
Olds used silver. I'm not sure if there's a color "code" of sorts. I've never had any issues with the silver gaskets. So, I have no opinion on the other colors.
Guess the benefit of having a smogger Olds V8 is wider intakes than a smogger SBC. No spacer needed. Save that $2 for 1/2 gallon of gas. 🙂
