it's not worth rebuilding a car unless you get pleasure from it, that El Comino had $50,000 "invested" but sold for under $19,000.

Its a nice g body in all but i cant see where $50,000 was spent in it. Even if absolutely ever thing on it was replaced and powder coated underneath i cant see it going over 20,000. I say that because i just completed a assignment of making a dream car build doing so.

If you get it done by a professional it's easy to get to that amount. I had a client who painted and modified cars that ended up in the sema show. I have seen the before pictures of cars that looked immaculate that he would spend weeks on just getting the body perfect and when your paying by the hour it adds up fast.

I agree It gets expensive quick , The last car I finished for a customer was a 70 Cadillac Black with a White convertible top and White leather interior. His bill was $60,000.

That was a 1970 Cadillac Convertible, not a 1986 El Camino.

Yea, but I'm certain labor does not matter much if you're working on an El Camino or Cadillac. It's very easy to get up there in cost when you can't do any of the work yourself. A nice quality paint job will approach 10 large nowadays.

No kidding about the cost of paint jobs, I have spent at least $ 30,000 on my El Camino over the years. It is a great car, but I know I will never get that much for it if I had to sell it. I have it insured for $25,000 because that is what it was appraised for.
