Because like every other company they are in it to make money. They will tell you whatever it takes to sell you something.

This is why I have long since stopped trying to "Buy American". The patriotic vitriol that is spewed forth by marketing departments is usually manipulated in some way that makes it technically legal, but not factually truthful. I also see it this way: Companies that sell good products at a competitive price survive because the majority of consumers buy the best deal. Most people will not be all nationalistic and buy only from companies making things in the US, so the purchases made by a minority of people will not be enough to encourage companies to build things in the US. Ultimately, nationalism is NOT a major market force for the majority of consumers.

technically the part only has to be finished in the US to stamp it "Made in America". The part was probably cast in Taiwan and shipped over as just a rough stamping, then polished/finished in the US.

That is what Springfield Arms does.

All there frames and slides are actually made in Brazil.

VERY VERY FEW have the MADE IN BRAZIL marking on it.

The ones that do, have it under the slide where you can not see it, without taking it apart.

They use to be in Springfield Mass.

Most people think they are made in Springfrield, Illinois. Since there "headquarters" is in Illinois (Geneseo)

They even go as far as stamping there frames with "Geneseo, IL USA"

But the conveniently leave off the "MADE IN"

SPRINGFIELD ARMORY USA............ my *ss

I have to make a comment on this, our dash caps, our carpets and most of our emblems and our headliners are made 100% in the US.

I have personally done research on this. For the simple fact it completely irritates me off to see people losing jobs. We do our very best here to get parts made here, 100% here down to the actual materials used to made the products.

We support American workers. No bull, no marketing ploy.
We are dead serious about it. I've spent countless hours trying to find manufacturing companies here not overseas.

Our hand controls for disabled people are made here also.
Clips and fasteners is another product line we have that is made HERE.

We are family run, we have kids to feed and clothe just like you guys, we do our best to keep everyone in a job here as much as we possibly can.
It's all trickle down and we need to support each other in this country.

Not all of our parts are made here but I can tell you that over 70% of what we sell is made right here in our country by Americans for Americans.
We do not deal directly with ANY overseas companies.

I always LOL when I see topics of this sort because the answer you seek is right in front of you when you look in the mirror.

You hear everyday at the work place,
They don't pay me what I'm worth.
I deserve a raise
I deserve better benefits
and so on.
Same people, large majority
Text all day at work
Use their cell phones constantly all day at work.
Surf the net all day at work
so on and so fourth

Then go shopping and look for deals all well to knowing that if it was MADE IN THE USA, the above then applies and it WILL BE EXPENSIVE, but their trying to conserve their monies making it go further which is were GREED kicks in, another American freedom so they will now ignore it not being made in America just to save a buck unless its something they hold dear to themselves and it must be, then you hear the complaints!!!!!!!

Everybody picks at Walmart, but they do not hide where it made at!!!

Buying American is not always just a choice you make, but is sometimes a result of simple economonics. I would love to say all my purchases are "American Made". The truth is that I can't afford to do it that way. Unfortunately many of my American tools come from auctions where I stand get a better price on them. Just my thoughts.

America is no longer a product making country and hasn't been since the lowered cost of international transit and mild development of the "third world"... since the industrial revolution we have slowly but surly moved past the US being a manufacture and has pushed to providing service which as landed most of us behind a desk in one form or another.

Big business does not care for the countries that they are founded in so it would only make since not to produce product at a much higher cost and lower their own profit margin. As well the American people only care about there own pocket book and will buy a foreign product even if it is of marginally less quality but at a much cheaper cost

For American to once again become a producing company, producing Americans would have to cut their pay by more then half to even be competitive... we all know this wont happen so the idea of buying American is not applicable by our own doing so we have no one else to blame but our selves
