Well... the 40-60 mile range would have made for a very funny car chase! Especially considering that it would S-L-O-W-L-Y lose power and speed as the charge ran out, kind of like a flashlight with dying batteries. Also, since GM owned and serviced them, there would be little market for the used parts.
