ok so I had nothing to do today and remembered that my radio does not work in the car.Its not a fancy one with a cd player but its got a tape deck, the only reason I'm trying to get it to work is for the radio so please help! Theres a blue wire hanging down that says something about amplifying? Would this affect the turning on of the radio? I've look everywhere for a lead for it to hook up to but can't find it

that blue wire can do a couple of things (it is a remote wire). you can use it to signal a power radio antenna or to signal an amplifier to turn on.

what is the issue you are having (static)?

Edit: just saw its not turning on, could be a fuse, bad connection etc. that blue wire should effect the radio turning off and on.

The radio won't turn on period and when I went to go check the fuses some of the white lettering is gone to tell what each fuse is. Now the blue tag says "If this unit is combined with a power amplifier, connect its blue lead to the blue lead (system control terminal) of the power amplifier. If combined with an auto antenna, connect its blue lead to the relay control terminal of the auto antenna. (MAX. 300 mA, 12 V DC)"

sorry cant help with it any further than what i said already. that blue wire is just a power signal wire and will in now effect the radio turning off and on. (except if you have an amplifier in the car wired to the speakers and that wire wasnt hooked up then you wouldnt hear anything but the radio would still power on.

the main power (key on) is the yellow wire there is also a seconday power wire it is the memory( constant power) mmm cant remember color ( maybe red). blue one is for a amp

454 is correct; you should have a yellow wire for constant power (memory), a redfor key on, and black for ground. Have you verified that you are getting power on those leads with a test light or voltage meter? The blue wire is for an amp or power antenna and will not affect the radio turning on. If you have the 2 power wires and a ground, the radio should light up. Then all you need is to connect the speaker wires.

*Edit* have you checked the fuses under the dash, by the e-brake?

That. If not pm me, got a "new" tape deck from my old car That you could have for the cost of shipping.

Thanks dlo253 I'll send you a pm if I can't get the pioneer. Found another wire not connected to anything

Wow, that radio is old, when Pioneer's wiring was slightly different. The red wire on that should go to key power and the orange goes to constant (memory). What does the tag on the orange wire say?
