I have a 1980 Chevy Monte Carlo and I need to remove the emergency brake cables to pull the rear end out and the part that I'm having issues with is the where it connects to the cable that goes to the emergency brake pedal cable it has like a metal piece holding them together how do I get the cable loose from this metal piece where the 2 cables hookup?THANKS

there is a nut on the adjuster that needs to be removed to remove the cables but it is probably welded with rust.. If you just need to remove the cables from the backing plates you can remove the cable from the lever for the parking brake. You'll need to remove the brake shoes when you do that so make sure you take a few pictures so you'll know how the brakes, springs and other components when you are putting it back together

I need to know how to remove the other end of the cable not the backing plate the other end that attaches to the cable from the brake pedal that has a like a metal connector on it how do I get the cable out of the metal connector that holds the two cables together?THANKS

If this is the clip you are referring to:

Then as pontiacgp stated loosen up on the adjuster, and you should have slack enough to rotate the end out of the clip.

My metal clip doesn't look like that it looks just like a slim piece of metal and the adjusting nut looks really rusted so how do you think I can get it loose
