ok the 350 is at the shop right now but is there a big different between the 307 and the 350

We need to know for sure if it is an Olds 350 or Chevy 350. If it is an Olds, they are externally the same. You can reuse anything you want from the 307. If it is a Chevy 350, there is really nothing the same besides the distributor cap.

I know we are dealing with an olds in this thread now but I still wanted to comment on this.

the last year for the 307 was 85 iirc the last few years of the rwd where sbc 305
and no theres very little difference in those motors
if you get a 350 complete carb to oil pan just yank the 305 and drop in the 350 its a direct bolt-in
now if you just get a long block ( complete engine with out dist intake oilpan) you got to watch a few things
have to make sure that the 4 center intake blots are the same as your intake (vortech heads have 4 bolts that are on a different angle than the rest) and make sure its got a fuel pump rod

The 350 with the 4 bolts in the center of the intake with the slightly different angle is NOT a vortec motor. Those heads are referred to as swirl port heads. They were from 88-95 iirc. The true vortec motors did not start until 96. They only used 8 intake bolts total and they are straight up and down as opposed to angled.

You recall incorrectly. The 307 Olds was produced through the 1990 model year. It was used in the B-body wagons and the D-body Cadillacs. It was the last production carbureted engine built in the US (the Subaru Justy was sold with a carb through the 1992 model year).
