I have an obd 2 code reader, but I think it's time to upgrade to an analyzer.

New vehicles store so much info that I can't see with just a reader.

I don't want to break the bank with something crazy expensive like what a dealer would have, but don't want to under buy and miss out on features that make it useful.

There's a lot of options and features! Tell me your opinions and experiences!

What would you recommend?

Ability to pull ABS codes and see wheel speed sensor data live is a must for me. I bought a used Snap On Solus off the tool truck. It was "outdated" at the time and only did up to 2012 vehicles. This was 2016. I paid $400. Worth every penny

I bought one of these when I was doing Takata replacements out of the country. Mainly just needed a quick way to pull and clear airbag codes.

For the money, it's pretty tough to beat. Live data for engine, transmission, SRS, and ABS. There was a TPMS add-on that I bought too, but I haven't used it yet. I had no need for scope function so this was plenty.

That's a screaming deal right there. Looks like there are knockoffs out there on the cheap too. Solus is an excellent scanner capable of seeing all my pre-2012 vehiculars on board modules. The freeze frame data is badass too. I have EFILive myself for the ECM/PCM related stuff.

There are tonnes that work off a dongle with an Android phone. Personally, I'd get HPTuners... because, let's be serious: a little accidental tuning never hurt anyone. 😉

Do the Bluetooth ones do all onboard modules? That's the part I'm missing. Being able to see the BCM, ABS, etc. I haven't looked much at all at them.
