Since you haven't even got an engine yet it's hard to buy parts for it :lol: . I'd look for a Vortec long block or complete takeout. Good heads, around 9.5 compression ratio, roller cam, decent rods already there. Add an HEI, Vortec intake and carb and you have a simple reliable engine. You could upgrade the cam for a little more kick - just don't get greedy. Stock Vortec heads can only handle about .420" lift (some sources say as much as .480"). Guide cutters are available through places like Summit for around $65.
