I building a new twin turbo engine for my hurst but cant decide on the engine.
The plan is a high revving short stroke TT engine with fast response. The choice is between a ford 302 or a chevy 302 (350block 3,00" stroke) Im also looking on te Ls Lt and 4,6 modular engines but i cant find any 3,00" cranks to them.
What engine would be the best choice to build a high revving driveable and reliable engine???
Ford seems to have more history when it comes to high revving small ci engines but chevy feels more right.
And dont say stroke it, im from sweden we love high revving and turbo 😀 my friend have a 1,8L Audi 4 banger with 700HP so 300 CI will be enough 8)
I know, Ford in a GM car looks bad, but its better than the toyota 1uzfe v8 a was looking into before  want to keep it American at least.
The budget is 10k-20k US (not including the turbo system) depends on what i get. A name on a good company that can build it would be nice to.

Thankful for all inputs, (except the bad ones).

I have a planned project that will be using this combo:
-LT1 block
-LT1 pistons
-L99 3" crankshaft
-L99 5.94" rods
This allows you to assemble a 302 "LT1" with off-the-shelf GM parts. Used LT1 parts are really cheap and L99 parts are even cheaper. With appropriate heads and cam, this would be a great base for a turbo motor. My plan was to use LT4 heads and intake, 58mm throttle body, and a homemade version of the STS turbo kit. Cam selection is still uncertain because there are better grinds every few days  . Since my project is an early Ford, under-hood space is really limited so the rear-mount turbo system just makes more sense in my case.
I'm also working on another project that has a DOHC 4.6 from a Lincoln Mark VIII. It won't get forced induction but my measurements show that it should fit in a Gbody. They are wide, though, which would make exhaust/turbo packaging complicated. They do have aluminum blocks and the heads flow pretty well with good cams. I think pistons would definitely need to be upgrade for a boosted application.

weird Chevy combos in semi-rare Oldsmobiles look just as bad as a Ford .... but I supposse if you must have a small displacement engine and a turbo, why not a Buick 231? It worked in the Grand National. My vote would be building a stout N/A SBO

X2. I realize Olds parts are likely tough to find in Europe, but given your budget, you can afford to ship the parts from the US. DX block, Edelbrock heads, destroked forged 330 crank if you want smaller than 350 cu in, forged pistons, and lots of boost. Dare to be different.

And don't forget trans, rear axle, and brake upgrades to match.

LT1 have 3,000" stroke, nice would save some weight with that engine. thanx.

If you guys dont like the idea of changing the olds engine, i dont think you would like that im swaping chassie parts brakes and the rear end from a BMW  But the handeling and brakes will be outstanding 😀

The buick v6 is great but i want a V8 (the sound) i orig wanted a olds engine but i cant find a 3inch stroke crank and there is not much performans parts for them.
The goal is around 8k rpm so short stroke is critical, the only reason for the small displacement.
I had a olds 425 in it before but it died from oil starvation from high rev, 🙁 (R.I.P) need some thing that holds togheter.

Im ordering the engine from USA, no problem to ship stuff, bought the car from new york last year.

I dont know what stout N/A sbo means, Dark beer natural aspired small block olds. Sorry if i am stupied :?:

Guys belive me im diffrent. All my friends drives BMW audi benz volvo vw..... they dident even know what oldsmobile was. I sold my BMW M5 V8 to build this so give me some slack

I'm not sure I understand what's magic about a 3" stroke, but all small block Olds motors used a 3.385" stroke. As for availability of performance parts, well, I realize that Chevy crap just falls from the sky, but if you can't find Olds parts, you aren't looking very hard.

Its true that olds have a much higher quality standard. but isnt that on the original parts. shouldent aftermarket performans chevy parts be better than GM standard olds parts. please prove me wrong, i do want a olds engine. when it comes to the stroke its all about the math. slower piston speed = less stress drag heat and wear on the engine.
I drive a lot on race tracks; that means hours on constant high rpm and the engine need to rev quickly to. lots of turns. 1/10 of a inch is a lot. 3inch is the shortest stroke i can find when it comes to US v8s. dont want to add an extra 0,385 inch just to have a maching combo.

Oldsmobile engines have oiling issues at higher RPM's, so I would scratch that idea. I would vote Ford 302 or 289 for a good high RPM turbo boosted. Plus, these engines are very easy to come by. You could even find a 4 bolt main BOSS 302 block that would be an even stronger base for you. I would go ahead and have Roush Yates Racing engines build you the engine with your budget. They are very well known in the racing industry and they are located right here in Mooresville, NC (so they would only be shipping from the east coast as well)

Olds can be made to rev. Olds designed their v8 for low rpm torque and efficiency. I hate engines that need a lot of rpm's to make power. Olds factory v8's made the factory sbc look like unreliable junk.
