Engine choice on a -79 olds Hurst

thanks for confirming something I always suspected Rover V-8s were still a direct swap.
 
My 215 V8 engines had a unique transmission bolt pattern. They were not the same as chevy or BOP, and they were not the same as the Buick Nailhead.

Did the Rover V8 keep the older 215 transmission bolt pattern? I know they use the Buick small block and V6 motor mounts.

Yes. As I said, it's just about a bolt-in. The later 4.0 and 4.6 motors have cross-bolted mains as well. I swapped a 215 into a Vega about 30 years ago and have always had a soft spot for these motors. That's one reason why I recently picked up the 62 wagon. There are actually an amazing number of performance parts available for them. The only problem for me, anyway, is that most of these parts are in the UK.
