Ive been browsing around for and putting together a parts list for my 6.0 swap. I hate the truck intake, so I tried searching silverado engine covers to see if there was something out there that might look nicer and so I dont have to add an ls3 intake to the expense, atleast not initially.
I didnt really find anything more than just painted stock ones. Any body know of anything?
Or somebody that makes something? Any ideas.

What do you think of this one?

I always thought it was the best looking vortec engine cover. I've seen it bodyworked and painted to look pretty nice.

I can't say it knocks my socks off but it looks nice. This is the primary reason I wouldn't use a truck intake in a classic car. The LS engines are a little homely in general.

Ive seen those. The only problem is that I was going to relocate the alternator. Im fussy right. lol.
Ive also seen the cover thats the middle portion also painted really nice. I guess its ok, mabe I can sand off the vortec and do something custom.
Well we'll see I was just curious if there is anything out there I havent seen that we have access too.

Doesw anybody body know if the injectors and fuel rail from the truck intake will work with an ls3 intake? I did a quick search and I found a few bare ones, not to expensive. Maybe not worth the time to try to make something work that I probably wont like anyways.

My L92 truck intake (87mm TB Escalade) is slightly uglier in stock form than the run of the mill 5.3 or 6.0 truck intake. After shaving the ugly ribs and removing unused ports and bosses it really looks good. I don't plan on using a cover. BTW> If you choose to go this route buy yourself a Harbor Fright multi purpose tool with bi metal blade. It works great for removing those ribs.

The LS engine family definitely look better w/o the engine covers which also retain heat.

I'm picky too so I understand. I know it is much more economical but I just couldn't bring myself to use the truck intake or the truck accessory drive in a classic car. I don't think the truck fuel rails/injectors will work in the LS3 manifold.

You know those sanded ones don't look half Anubis any chance you have a pic from the side or top of the motor.
