Engine start problem!!

My starter isn't doing anything when i turn the key the temp light come on but the motor will not turn i'm confused and frustrated with it could someone help me with this and throw out a couple ideas of what the problem could be?

Battery cable is loose? Check that first, this always used to happen to me.

I check that it on pretty tight it's crazy everthing else works but that.

could be the starter solenoid...try hitting the starter with a hammer

Found the problem someone cut my purple wire under the steering wheel.

I was looking through all my wires and removed the cover after my grand dad said it has to be a wire lose or not connected somewhere so i looked everywhere and i also noticed the cover was missing and few screws but idk my little bro lives down the street and walk outside to someone trying to push his caprice out the yard so maybe they are trying to get it i have the slightest idea but it's being walked close by me a pitbull and a 45 and shotty
