Engine/Transmission prblem

Hey guys!

Following all your leads on the fuel filter, here's what I found when I opened the filter situated right next to the carb:

The things you see seem to be teflon tape, rubber and sillicone from somewhere in the fuel system. It's all I got out of the filter after loosening it. To check/clear the pump I put a bottle on the line goin up to the carb and rotated the engine with rest of the fuel in the carb. as this pic shows, there's no more filth.

I don't trust this edelbrock fuel filter anymore. it seems a little too coarse-meshed, compared to standart BOSCH-filters wo have a fleece or paper element. i'd be very unhappy if i had to open up and clean the carb inside out. smaller dirt may have clogged inner parts, causing trouble at higher rpm... What do you think?

i would go with a chrome/glass inline... makes it easy to see whats going on and when to change the filter, and at only $10, you cant go wrong...

you sure can go wrong with those, they are known to break and the o rings can leak causing fires..I had one before I read about the problems with them and it came apart on me, luckily no fire

I had this glass-filter prior to the edelbrock. it didn't last long. the glass tube got destroyed by the vibrations caused by daily driving 🙁

someone might have put injector cleaner in the gas tank instead of carb cleaner. That will destroy the rubber in our cars

there's something i keep far far away from my cars: these "magic" additives for engines. they cause more trouble than they're worth. especially in modern engines. i've seen too many engines blown with these products. the manual of my S5 even warns from using any of these as the engines are too much high-tech & specific on the chemical purity of the fuel. most european car constructors void any warranty on the car if anything else than pure fuel is put into the tank.

really surprised at the issues with the inline filter... i have been running them for as long as i can remember in all my cars and never had an issue other than not tightening the clamp enough and it leaked a little... never had one break or leak...

Best inline filter I've used, cheap and filters down to 20 microns

I just ordered a couple of these. thanks for the hint 🙂
