Im starting to think my cars engine isn't the original..
I have a 1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Base w/ 305 v8 vin H
The engine vin code on the front right, behind the Alternator is "V0421DDL"
The suffix DDL is NOT a Monte Carlo engine am i correct? I know the V is for Flint Michigan, 04/21 is the date of manufacture, and DDL is the engine code. How do i verify if this is the engine my car came with. The only place i could find that says what a DDL code is is the site listed below, and may not be correct....

btw my transmission is a 200r4

Code Year CID Vehicle HP RPO Trans
DDL 86 305 Impala 150 LG-4 700R 4-Brl
DDL 86 305 Chevelle 165 LG-4 700R 4-Brl
DDL 86 305 Chevelle 165 LG-4 700R 4-Brl
DDL 86 305 Camaro 165 LG-4 700R 4-Brl

any thoughts??? or is there a way to match that particular number to my vin to see if its correct? I haven't had the time or access to get the numbers off the back of the engine yet.

On the same pad as the suffix code somewhere just underneath it (the suffix code) will be the sequential unit number of your VIN code, if it matches the vin on your winshield its original.
