I took my heater/ac box apart, because it had a hole and the heater core looked like it had been leaking. So while I have it apart I decided to replace the evaporator also, but the filter is stuck to the old on and all torn up. Should I replace the filter and if so where can I get it from?

Ive heard of them being rebuilt with some dense packing foam and some stuff for fish tank filters. LOL

I know it sounds crazy but if you google "fish filter evap canister rebuild" something should come up.

I didn't put anything back in there. My old filter was torn to crap.

I am sure there should be some sort of filter, but I have never run one.

For the top of the ac box, I use 3M strip caulk. It is non hardening and seal great.

No problem!

The top sealing lip on the bottom ac box, where the heater core and evaporator sit, there is a groove in there. I take the 3M strip caulk, and work it like play dough to thin it out and fit in that groove. the I stick the top on. For the area at the base of the windshield, I use a combination of the strip caulk where the top meets the firewall, and black seam sealer.

Also, I use a bit of strip caulk on the threads of the fasteners going into the firewall. Anything to help keep the water out.
