Heres What I found out with my 78 El camino with a all stock 84 305 H/O. The motor dropped off at about 4500 RPM when left in drive with a rebuilt 600 holley. I install a rebuilt & upgraded Quadrajet from a 78 Chevy Truck, With the trans in drive it now pulls to 5600 RPM. I also tried the same swap on my 79 LG4 in my 79 Malibu and the Quadrajet out performed the small Holley also just not as much. Choosing the right carb is very important. . So heres my question, will the L69 benifit from 1.6:1 roller rockers instead of a cam change ? I had a few cams recamended to me for my 84 305 H/O, Both Comp Cams, the 262 pulls to 5500 RPM and the one I would choose the 268 which pulls to 5900. I have Flowtech headers, 2.25 true duals with a X pipe, 3.23 gears w/posi TH350 W/2000 stall, and a fairbanks shift kit.
