Evil Locking Lug Nuts!!!

Tighten up your lug nuts with a torque wrench, then retorque them again after a few miles. I don't know the recommended torque for your particular car but 90 lb/ft will be close.

I read a VW magazine article by the editor once outlining how a wheel came loose on his show car on its first trip after being laid up for the winter.
He had put the wheels on himself, correctly torqued up, the previous year and knew for certain nobody else had touched the car, luckily he stopped as soon as he was aware something was wrong and avoided a potential catastrophe.

Perhaps another check we should make if our cars have been laid up for any length of time.

Roger.

this is why I butter the threads with anti seize when I remove and reinstall a wheel. I've never had a problem removing a wheel lug when anti seize has been applied

X2!!!

I use anti-seize on anything exposed to the elements or high heat. Particularly exhaust studs, suspension bolts, and spark plug threads.

I once owned an '83 Regal for a short period of time with a leaky wheel cylinder. Had a crappy 231 and it was a beater car. I didn't have a garage or air tools at the time and I wanted to change the wheel cylinder. The lugs were so tight and rusted to the wheels that I twisted the center weld off of a 4 way lug wrench with a 6' pipe. After I few other odd problems I just sold the damn thing and didn't bother fixing it.

Amen on the Anti "Sleaze". I got a 88 formula years ago. It had no key to get the single and only security lug on the whole car off. I wielded a plane Jane lug to it and used a 4 way. It was on very tight.

I used to know a guy years ago, He was pretty strong, could carry an all iron SBC (minus intake and accessories) across his yard.

How's his back doing these days?

Haven't talked to him in years. But last time I seen him it wasn't to good lol. But he's one of those sleezy types that would (and has( ripped off his own family. So I hope it hurts lol.

Yeah when I re-install the wheels I will use anti-seize. The moron who owned it before me apparently didn't know what it was. This is the same guy who caved the passenger door and fender in on a guardrail. I believe there is a trend here.

just make sure not to get the anti-seize on the seats. it should only be on the threads.
