I know a couple of the cars on here are running this system or at least were. I'm interested in long term opinions of the system and the custom tuning ability beyond the self-learn functions.
I am looking at maybe installing one of these systems on my setup.
Thanks
I've been doing some research on them to eventually replace my carb. I have an Olds engine and I don't see why it wouldn't fit. All of the systems I have seen use a square bore flange and Holley or Edelbrock style linkages. Both companies make correctors for TV cable geometry, so does Bowtie Overdrives.
But I too would really like to hear someones opinion after having installed a system and putting some miles on it.
Later this year after I get the rest of the car done I will be installing the Edelbrock EStreet EFI, I like the idea of the sump system so the cars fuel system can remain stock. I also have seen the tablet they include and it is a very slick set up
Talk to Mark Remmel he is building me a multi-port manifold and system out of a Performer RMP manifold and Accel Thruster controller. Probably cost a little more and you will need a electric fuel system. I am using a Turbo Regal setup with Racetronix AN sendor so I can run 6 AN both for fuel and return.
I don't think the FAST system will lockup your convertor. Also, you can get the Accel DFI thruster system and use their distributor and run in mode that will fire the injectors individually for each cylinder. And, Accel has a harness that will lock the convertor in the trans. That was the big deal for me.
I'm running a 700R4 w/ a lockup control already taken care of with a Painless wiring kit. I also already have a fuel system installed that can handle the demands of EFI. I really am looking for someone who is running it currently for an honest opinion on longevity, performance, tuneability. I am looking at the F.A.S.T. system because it looks the most compatible with my current mix of parts and in the long run cheapest to implement.
From all the research ive looked into (because id like to do EFI someday when money is less tight) I believe Atomic EFI is the way to go. The reason is that doing EFI without timing control is only half the equation and MSD allows you to do timing control with their distributors or boxes fairly easily. The self learning tune-ability together with not only fuel but also spark would be tough to beat on a N/A engine
