You can bolt them in ('78-'88) but there is a change in the type of hose/fitting ends. So you either need to use adapter fittings or use the corresponding pump and hoses if you put a later box on an early car. IIRC the switch was in '82 or '83. Best way to tell if it's quick ratio is to count the turns lock-to-lock. Mine is between 2.25-2.5 turns. Originally most had an ink (paint) stamped letter code on the end but usually that goes away over time with cleaning and age.
 
One more thing; The pitman arm is different between the 605 and 800. So make sure you get that too if you're doing a swap.

One more thing. My understanding is the 800 series box can be found under a jeep grand Cherokee. Are the majority of these boxes gonna be quick ratio?

I swapped a manual box under my supreme. The ratio must be something like 22:1. I like the idea of the drag car engine running just an alternator.

Grand Cherokees are all over the boneyards and it would be the quickest and easiest source of a quick ratio box.
