I got the front and back seats from a 85 Monte SS. The vehicle had been sitting for 11 years in the sun in a lot. The fabic on the seats is "bleached" almost gray.

I need to get them back more red, while I look for a cheap seat of factory reconditioned covers for a GN / T-type.

Any help?

I used search but could come up with what I am looking for. '

As another Idea is there a seat of slip over covers that fit well, or better than well that I can purchase and wont look like a cheap-o set of parts store shag covers?

If it were vinyl you'd be golden. I've tried a ton of fabric dye and I haven't had any luck. I use diplicolor vinyl and fabric dye. I've done carpet before with it for a friend and it turned out good, just not sure how well it held up. Id give it a very good cleaning and then give it a try. DO NOT BUY EXPENSIVE CARPET PAINT, THEY DO NOT WORK.

Pick up a can of SEM dye,fog it from about 8" away and scrub it with a bristle brush afterwards to help work it into the fabric.

check out my pics, its was all done with 15 buck a can vinyl and velour paint/dye whatever you wanna call it. i on the other hand would HIGHLY recommend you buy the good stuff. i bought 2 cans, both from seperate canadian tires, of that duplicolor sh*t and compared to the good stuff, (from rondex) it was like spitting sh*t from a straw. went on clumpy and runny where as the good dye went on and kinda looked like sh*t at first, but driied amazingly even and shiny. you could look at any part i dyed and theres no way you'd think i painted it, as a matter of fact youd think its brand new. no jokes! if your gonna go thro the hassle of re-doing it, dont make the mistake i did and try and cut costs by buying cheap dye for the not so important spots. i basically had to lightly sand everything aside from the seats and re-do it with the better paint so it dried even and looks original. like everything else...do it once right, or do it 2 or 3 times wrong, your choice.

i bought it from Rondex here in winnipeg canada and im pretty sure it was they're brand. basically all i was saying was go to a paint store and get the "good stuff" meaning whatever they recommend. that duplicolor stuff works, dont get me wrong, it just didnt have the same finish as the more exspensive stuff. i need another can so ill post a pic as soon as i pick it up. it probaly wont help you tho unless you have a rondex where you are, but just go to any automotive paint store and they should be able to help yah. wish ya the best man! the most time consuming part (and most likely where you'll get bored and slack a lil 🙂 was all the washing and taping, but trust me its important to get that stuff CLEAN before you lay down the dye. i used this T.S.P. powder that you mix with water to whatever strength you need and it worked really good. i washed it first with windex and let it dry and again with the tsp and it was rediculous how much more old stale smoke and stuff came off. keep in touch man i'd love to follow your project and see pics of the progress!!
