YA SEE I HAVE A 1980 EL CAMINO WITH AN 87 T-TYPE REAR END. I THINK THE GEARS ARE 3.42. KINDA FEELS LIKE IT. BUT LATELY SINCE I PUT A COUPLE 28in TALL TIRES IN THE BACK I THINK I MAY WANT TO GO DOWN TO A 3.73. SO I WAS TRYING TO IMAGINE WHAT SIZE TIRE THE ENGINEERS AT GM HAD FIGURED TO RUN WITH MY 3.42'S ON THOSE REGALS IN 87.
The only other thing that work into play is the type of transmission the Regals used in 87. I do not have the luxury of an OVERDRIVE automatic. Right now I am useing a th350.

It amazes me that the stock tire for the T-type/GN was a 215 – 15”. I wonder why it wouldn’t have come from the factory with a 235 tire? I had a “plain” regal back then that had 185 – 14” tires on it! I think that most Chevys this day in age come from the factory with something in the range of 225/235 tires…
