These go in that "niche" section, you either love em or hate em, hard to find a middle ground, much like the AMC Pacer  . That being said, I think thery're awesome! I plan on adding one to the fleet someday, when I find the right one that is.......(Goes for the Pacer too  )

I wouldn't go as far the Pacer :puke: aka pregnant Pinto.

I'm think more along the lines of Monzas, Vegas, Starfires & Sunbirds.

 Haven't heard the pregnant pinto, lol, usually just fish bowl  . I used to think the same about Pacers, but then I saw one that was done just right and it looked awesome  .

There's different, and then there's these cars. Different doesn't always equal cool. And I don't know if you can call them a 'fastback!' They just look slow, and poorly designed.

One of GM's worst designs ever! :puke: The buttless cutlass.

Right up there with the Pontiac Aztec.

I have to agree with you there. I find the fastback style hideous.

I have always liked the "underdog" cars....for some reason I like the under-appreciated cars, and figure with the right mods, they are cool...to me anyway. Including these "Buttless Cutlasses", I have always wanted to rod a Pinto wagon, Vega/Vega wagon, (actually had a Pontiac Astre project years ago, but never finished it), absolutely love AMC's (minus the Pacer, never did like them, or the Gremlin) but give me a Javelin, or a 76 Matador (like my aunt had back then), or even a good AMC/Eagle....guess I am in the minority, but I think all these pretty much suck in stock form, but would ROCK with the right mods.......

No I agree about the underdog cars. I almost bought a Monte Aerocoupe myself.

Yeah me too. I really like the 78-80 Regals as well. Like I was saying earlier, the Century would be nice with a Buick 350. I'd love to put an Olds 455 in one of those Salons. If the stance was right and you filled up those rear wheel wells it wouldn't be too bad IMO. Besides, now we know that nobody would steal it either.

 An SS Aerocoupe or Grand Prix 2+2 is awesome... Cutlass fastback coupe... Not as much.

This was taken from Hemming's, "The buying public hated these and Century sales dropped by 80%. Lasted only two years before returing to a normal 4 door sedan roofline for 1980".

Seems like people have never liked them!

I wouldn't mind one of those Century turbo coupes or fastback 442. I always liked that body style. Then again, I like unusual cars other than your run of mill high production cars.
The Century coupe with a nice warmed over Buick 350 would be ideal. Get rid of the boat anchor that's in it.
