Few G-body questions

You need a more detailed version that breaks down the years since it looks like they are missing at least the early A body listings.

So best case scenario it bolts in, worse scenario i just need to get the conversion upper control arms

It will need conversion control arms regardless it is an A-Body rear end and does not just bolt in a 78-88 G-body.
And probably a new or modified driveshaft.

And dont forget the fact it might be a lot more wide than the g body rear.

Private message user pontiacgp. I believe he has this rear in his Grand Prix and will be willing and most definitely able to answer your questions.

If your car is indeed an 81, it is a G body. The 78,79, and 80 cars I believe are technically A bodies. However, they share the same frame, chassis, and basic body structure of the the 81-88 G bodies. Any parts designed for an actual A body will not bolt right up generally. For your 8.5" rear, you will likely need conversion upper control arms at the very least. You will also likely need a different length drive shaft. I believe the rear is 1" wider like you mentioned. This may or may not necessitate the purchase of new wheels depending on backspacing.

As I said above, private message member pontiacgp and I believe he will have all of your answers or be able to point you in the right direction. If you are unsure of how to private message someone, ask or I can bring this to his attention for you.

Okay thank you, and yeah I know the driveshaft needs to be shorten and I'm just gonna run a 18x8 or 18x8.5 with factory backspacing, once its all together and going down the road I will be measuring it for a shorter but wider rim for street legal slicks
