hey guys i have a few questions:

1st: i want to make the same roll cage as the general lee since i can still have passengers in the back. i would just like to know how hard would it be to do that to a 79 cutlass or if someone makes a kit?:

competiton engineering makes a rollcage kit for g-bodys, but i believe you lose the rear seat with that kit, im sure you can modify it to work tho with some extra piping, jegs/summit has there own kits i believe to

The movie cars had the handle like in your pictures, and you should be able to rig something up with parts from Lokar. The original cars from the TV show simply had the ratcheting mechanisim from the pedal removed, so you could stomp it and it would pop back when you removed your foot.

Roll cage kits rarely fit as desired, you'll end up having to get one custom made.

That e-brake looks like it is using some type of master cylinder, I have never seen that before.

Are you trying to make a Cutlass General Lee or just interested in the features. I think it is kind of a cool idea. When people asked me what I was building my car to do, I would tell them it is built to race the General Lee, since it is not a track car and more than a street car.

im trying to build a car that handles everything i throw at it. and i always wanted roll cage but i need the back seat for when the fiance and my daughter is in the car. i also love hand e brakes so i can go sideways easily so far the plan is to paint the car flat black with side exhuast and tight suspension.

i was thinking of getting an ebrake from a different car and hooking up the brake cable to it with a longer shifter. but i dont know if it would work. and as for the roll cage i guess i have to go custom.

but this car is going to be everything the general lee was in the show in real life (just without the jumps)

well the motor i want to get is a Chevy 350 that puts out 400 hp and 428 ft/lb or torque. but i still want n e brake to be able to swing it sideways without having to stomp on it.

so any ideas how i can rig that up?

You really can't have a good cage and a back seat at the same time. That style of cage today would get you hurt in a wreck cages have become a lot better over the years.Unless your gonna race it where you need a cage spend sometime on the frame.Box it in and put some type of x in the middle of the frame where there is a big open space. That will stiffen it up more then a cage cam.I bet in that picture its not a e brake probably more of a line lock so they can roast the tires easier.

all i need is something in case i flip the car. on that note im not gonna race the car its just a weekend toy. as for the e brake i want one there like the Tokyo drift mustang:

and i don't know if an e brake will work since all of them look like a special system
