Finally starting on the Olds this week

You should be able to get $200 for the aluminum hood if it is in good shape and not too beat up.
I bought an aluminum hood for my 442 over the winter and paid $200 for the hood and hinges (they have a lower tension spring).

If you weren't so far away, I'd buy it for my wagon...

You could always do a 2-tone with the dark gray and dark red. I'm just partial to it since you don't see this often. (Check my sig pic.)
^^^^Ditto that^^. And if you don't have the front bumper, check with your uncle's inventory for aluminum supports. My '79 has the aluminum hood and it also has the aluminum bumper supports front and back. I've heard that it is common to get both if you get one. Check that F41 thread in the suspension section. I found all the extra braces in the wrecking yard so far except for the GP bar. Also got F41 sway bars and steering box. I love sleepers and yours has a ton of potential. I'll be watching.

Yeah sadly my "yard pickings" up here are fairly limited as we only have one junk yard. I miss having access to all the U Pull It yards and the like down your way. I'm hoping to go to one of the U Pull Its when I'm down there in a couple weeks. I have a feeling I'm going to have to do quite a bit of ordering stuff online and the like to get some of the parts I need. Thankfully I do have access to the parts supply they had built up from racing.

Tonight the girl friend came over and we fired up Forza 2 and started playing around with paint schemes for the Olds using the GNX as a stand in. What we ended up with was a dark red body color and graphite gray racing stripes coming off where the top of the grills would be.

It looks quite nice actually. Heck the game was worth the $20 just for being able to play around with paint schemes on a G body to get an idea

It actually almost has me won over as far as thinking that should be the color for the car.

Does your car have the aluminum rear drums as well?

Not sure about the drums have not had the rear wheels off yet. I didn't know that was part of the lightened package from the diesels. I will have to check, though the entire rear is going to be swapped out drums and all. So I suppose someone will be getting some lighter drums if they are.
