I was hesitant about the firestones at first, (my family had several bad experiences with firestone in the past) but the pricing was right, and liked the way they looked... If I was keeping the 15" wheels on my regal, I'd buy another set! they handled WAY better than the eagle gt's that the car came equipped with great wet handling, and IMO, looked way better than the t/a's.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Firestone/Bridgestone tires. I run Firehawk Wide Ovals on my Charger, Bridgestone Potenzas on my Daytona, and am 99% sure I'll be running the Indy 500s on my Regal*. BFG hasn't really updated their tread design on the Radial T/A in nearly 20 years. While both tires are pretty equal on dry pavement, the Firestone performs noticeably better on wet pavement and in light snow. -And yes, I have driven both in all conditions- And I think the Firestone is a much better looking tire. And if you buy them at a Firestone Service Center, the Road Hazard Warranty is the best I've found from any retailer.

That's not to say the BFG isn't a good tire at all. It's competitively priced, and available in way more sizes, ride quietly and comfortably. And if you compare same size tires on same size wheels, the BFG will run just a tad wider and put a little more tread on the pavement.

*One other tire I'm possibly considering is the Mickey Thompson street radial. It's in the same price range as the Firestone and BFG, and is a very good looking tire. Downside is I don't know of any local retailers, and I haven't met anyone else who's tried them, so I haven't gotten any first hand opinions on them.

except earlier this year the rear pass tire developed a buldge and wires were sticking out, but the car also sits during the winter
this happened to a car of mine too, which sat over winter. After some investigating, a puddle of melting snow formed under the tire while the car sat, then when the water froze, it completely warped the tire.

Also, to answer the original question... I've been having the same debate. I'll be putting on tires on my 15s in the spring and want to go the cheap route. It seems the Firehawks and T/As are the cheapest.
I've always found the T/As to get very hard after a while. So I think this time I'm going to give the Firehawks a try

also i dont know the relevance exactly since no one in my family or anyone i speak to very often has used bfg tas nicely, but iv had nothing but good experiences with regular bfg tires.... just an fyi after doing regular burnouts more often than seldom iv just replaced my bfgs at 75000 miles sooo >.> and all the bfgs we ever had on our cars have all performed the same... even the bfgs on my dads truck have like 65k and my moms jetta got 80k so bfgs are boss

Looks are subjective so I will leave that alone.

T/A is credited as the "first" muscle car radial and has a great following because on that. It is a good all around tire (except in winter).

The 500s is a better tire for handling/traction and does a little better in poor weather.

Neither are snow tires no matter what the label says ( M&S ).

The 500s had an S version years ago , which I assume stood for Soft, which hooked pretty good for a true street tire.

Too bad they are gone.

I went with TAs on my ride cause its one of like 3 tires in 15in wheel available in 235 and 275.

im really meh on both. Mastercraft Avenger G/T's on my Irocs.
