I've been waiting years for an affordable EFI that I know will actually work ( reliably!!! ) and be better than my qjet. It's almost 2020 and my qjet is in no danger of being removed any time soon.

These systems only get a bad rap because people buy them and install them but never tune them right because they don't know how. They are better than a carb with drivability, you don't need to retune for elevation, they run smooth as silk even on a winter cold start, but they need to be tuned correctly to do so, as does a carb.

But they're marketed as 'self learning' which is almost always not the case. People are led to believe you just bolt them on, click a couple of buttons, and drive the car and it will self learn. They almost never do ( from what I read ).

So when you gotta delve deeper into the tuning nobody knows what's they're doing because most people that buy these are mechanics not tuners.

Imo, it's kinda hard to blame the average user of these 'self learning' units. Between all the glitches, poor quality, and false advertising, it's no wonder why many people are disappointed in these things.

You're spot on. Unfortunately most people don't see these systems for what they are.

My buddy put one on his 408 stroked Frod. It took him a good month to get it tuned right. He ended up getting an old laptop hooked up to it and watching YouTube videos, but he's happy with it now. Car goes 10.58 on motor and 9.70 on laughing gas.

The cost of converting an older engine to efi is a big part of the whole reason LS swaps have gotten overpopular.
If lack of baffles is an issue , look into holley hydramat to install in existing tank, whatever type of tank it may be.
self learning means it learns & adjust within certain parameters. You have to have system within the correct parameters for it to finish the job.

I didn't find the Holley software difficult to navigate, and it is very self tuning. You do have to do some homework, and understand that YOU need to guide the software to the correct fuel ratios. Post some of your logs or AFR tables and settings displays. I'm sure we could help get you sorted out.

Would have to run the history but my FI-TECH system has been up and running for a least two years, possibly three. At the initial install I did have a few issues that, when I e-mailed the tech e-dress for help, got answers, typically, by the next day. The little hand held works great as a general purpose monitor and will provide me with both the hot IAC setting as well as the ideal and actual AFRs-Air-Fuel ratio. Due to issues with my daily driver I found myself forced to use my non G-Body G-Body for far longer into the fall this year than I am normally comfortable with. Even at temperatures lower than 32 and high humidities with the EFI it would both start, run, stay running, and warm up. The Holley that preceded the EFI, while a great carb when it was warm and dry, hated cold and high humidity; and displayed this hatred by flat out refusing to run or idle. Don't bother about the necessity of periodic retuning for it so it can accommodate various weather changes during the late spring and summer, I have a large box with little compartments that are full of various numbers of jets and springs and other parts. Over the years that carb has gone from side bowl to cathedral bowl, stock floats to brass to E-85 resistant, and is on its second base plate. If you are a Holley-head and enjoy the agony and ecstasy of perennially massaging your double pumper or spread-bore or even just a plain jane 4150 or 4160 then by all means go for it. Too much of a good thing just made me tired and frustrated. The FI-Tech unit, and this is NOT a plug by any means, proved to be about as complicated as a rock. The fuel delivery system is another matter but for me the game plan is now to lose the booster pump and go straight to either in tank or in line. In line is supposedly louder but I can't hear much over my exhaust system anyway.
