What year trucks are you finding with the correct end for a '78 steering column?

Yea they are right. I had a grand cherokee on and it would collapse but the end was the aluminum so it wouldnt fit.

It's not a jeep grand cherokee, its just aearly 90's regualur square body style jeep cherokee...when you pull the jeep grand cherokee you'll notice the steering colum end is too small, but when you have the right one there are some nylon tab's that keep it from collasping just hit it with a hammer and you break em right off

Thanks for that also. I will try that too. Between this and some heat I should finally get this thing on the car instead of sitting on the ground. I will feel real good when I get it on since I really wanted to do this upgrade but felt bad when I went through all the trouble of getting the right one and it wouldnt collapse

Now if I could only get my headers bolted on the engine I can get mine finished up! LOL. I'll probably have to take my steering shaft off again to get the driver's side header over the dipstick tube to bolt it up.

Dont long tube give more top lower end power and shorties give top end but both depend on the size of the primaries? I think I read all this somewhere when I was trying to decide which ones I wanted.

I think that's how it is, but I can't be quoted. I got mine for $50 used and they are in great shape. I wanted a true dual exhaust and would have had to replace the manifolds anyway. Manifolds were cracked and new ones are expensive and I didn't want to mess with the crossover pipe.
