Ever see a pic of him in a chair or wheelchair with a blanket over his legs? Polio. It was so taboo to even talk about it they made a secret train tunnel and station to stop under the Waldorf Astoria Hotel so he could sneak in without anyone seeing him in that state. Thank God for Dr Salk who discovered the vaccine and to hell with all the imbeciles that refuse to use it. Darwin Award winners for sure!

My Uncle was extremely lucky to only have minor effects from Polio, had it before the vaccine existed. A great guy who had a hard life. He had 3 wives die of cancer and his daughter is bipolar.
FYI- Dr Salk worked at the University Of Pittburgh. There were some kids in my neighborhood that had the leg braces because of the paralysis. I think they all recovered OK as that was just when the vaccine was discovered. I'm pretty sure their Mothers would b*tch-slap the sh*t out of a denier/refuser. In NY we also have some outbreaks of formerly obliterated diseases due to clusters of ultra-stupid morons that refuse vaccines. I say bring back the Sanitariums and put them away far from the rest of us.

But seriously, watch 'Behind the Curve' on Netflix. I swear the producers we're actually trying to discredit everyone in the documentary. It's not perceived that way at first, but you'll see what I mean, especially how they end it. I think it's a must watch for 'Satans Globe Earthers.'

Yep, Pitt has Salk Hall and there's all kinds of things around here named after him. Salk was a pretty cool guy, I remember writing a paper on him in high school.
