I'm to the point on my Regal where I want to concentrate on the frame. When I bought the car, I knew the rear frame rails were bad, but the body was decent and the drivetrain was worth it.
I found a frame in a local junk yard, but they do not sell whole frames, so I can wack the rear half for a great price (I've been through it and it's amazing the condition of the thing.)
I was thinking about cutting the front frame off of the one have and instead of boxing the side rails, using 2" X 4" rect tube and having the new rear end welded on. I'm ok with a welder, but I have a few talented welders at work I can hit up to weld it for me. Fixturing and squaring it up is also not a problem.
Anyone done this or have any input on it? I know I will have to add the frame mount holes and the trans mount provisions as well as cross bracing to the center section in the back.
It seems to me that if done correctly, it could solve alot of issues and strengthen the frame substantially.
