i cant find a way to get through there from the underside. the only place that gives me access is right behind the coil spring and i socket wont fit between the frame and spring

Go up behind the lower control arm mount, between the frame and the arm. I use a long extension with a swivel socket to hold the bolt, then use a impact on the nut. Takes some contorting, but possible.

if you drop the lower control arm you'll get good access to the bolts and if you think your having problems now wait till it comes to putting the bolts back in

yea this project is gonna start to aggravate me now. engine and trans is dying to go into something but now it cant

when I install engine mounts I use a serrated flanged nut and bolt. I install the bolt up thru the crossmember and mount so when it will lock it self in place and you don't have to hold the head of the bolt with the wrench when your torquing it down..I also use some thread locking loctite on the threads

so pretty much install upside down from what it is now? never thought of it that way but that will make installation a whole lot easier. at least the torquing part

anybody ever think of putting a drilled slug in there and tapping it once welded in place? might save a lot of frustration if you have the tools to do it
