I know it is not uncommon for G-Bodies (and A-Bodies) to have rotted frame rails just behind the wheel openings.

My Questions are; How hard is this to repair?
How expensive is this to repair?
Who does this kind of work?

Thanks,

Scott

There is a gentleman named Conrad Lozier, near Woodstock Ontario Canada who manufactures and sells A/G body rear frame repair rails, and trunk mounts, and trunk repair patch panels. From time to time, depending on his work load, he will install the parts that he sells. On this board there is a member called 85ss who has had this work done on his Monte SS. He can probably give you more info on the work that he had done.

Thanks...

...for the replies and info. I doubt I would be able to take the car to Canada for repairs but it is good to know the parts are available.

Can you do them on the car? How much work is involved?

Thanks

i just finished plating the frame on my friends monte carlo that he bought and it was a tedious affair to do on the car. you have to take out as many mounts as you can. we undid all the mounts except the two front ones right at the fenders. then comes the fun part.......lifting the body from the frame, we got it about 4-6" of separation and then cut the old plate and rotted frame out so that there was as little rusted metal as possible and put the new metal on.
we used a sawzall, cutting torches, mig welder, hoist, and 10 ton porta-power. you dont need all that but it makes it a hell of a lot easier.
if i can, i will get pics of his car as soon as he brings it back to my garage to swap the rear end.

Conrad installed them with the body still mounted. The pics are noted above. It took him 10 hours including the big patch panel and that was working steady. For someone doing it first time - I would expect several days work.
