its a chevy.... and thus far no one has said have someone come out and punch the hood while you pull back on the release.... work smarter not harder

Pull the latch, walk over to the front of the hood and give it a good bump near the latch with the side of your fist a few times. It'll pop open. Once it's open, lube the sh*t outta the latch with something like lithium grease.

It has been tried multiple times even with simeone holding the latch handle. I has noticed also the corners of the hood sit a bit high and I am wondering if it is putting tension on the mechanisim causing it to jam.

Damn, the beat the sh*t out of the hood with your hand trick didn't work??? no bueno... That 95% of the time it does.. Taking the hood latch off sucks... always seem to do it on blazers...

x2

Aww dang..mine stuck now

Mine turned out to be the casing around the cable disintegrated causing it to not pull fully. I ended up pulling as much as it would go then pulled the grill so I could push up on the hook and pry with a big damn screwdriver at the same time. It worked. I now pulled the whole catch and will be using hood pins.

I would replace the cable and use the latch. I use my original latch on my fiberglass hood along with hoodpins it's just an added measure of safety. Plus with no latch you really wouldn't want to use the spring(especially if you get a fiberglass hood) so you would have to still pry your hood up since it would no longer pop up.
