So the time has come to install a hurst floor shifer in my black sheep. I'm not worried about the fabrication I gotta do to the center console but I need to kno what I'm gonna do about the colum shift. I've never removed much more than the steering wheel and I want a good clean look. I'm gonna return to the ccutlass I removed the console from and see if I can get that sleeve off of it. Dose any one have any need to know info for me before I start pullin parts? Any help is much apreciated.

Here's a suggestion, something I've been thinking about doing the next time I do a floor shift swap.

Rather than try to remove the mount for the column shifter handle, why not just use it as a mount for something. Like maybe a shift light.

Although if u mount anythin on it remember that it will move as that sleeve on the column moves even on floor shift cars. I guess for key and shift indicator purposes

Shouldn't be an issue with an aftermarket shifter. Just remove all the linkage from the column.

Here's a better idea, why not get a non-column shifted steering column and just swap your entire column out instead of trying to swap sleeves and such?

As far as the column moving, you'd need to tie it up in place. The weight of a tach would surely pull it down and you'd never get your key out.
